$594,000 for Upgrades to Eastern Suburbs' Worst Intersection

There will be major improvements to the four-way intersection at New South Head Road, Bellevue Road, Cross Street and Kiaora Road in Double Bay after Member for Vaucluse and NSW Opposition Leader, Kellie Sloane helped secure $594,000 in funding.
Early last year, Kellie Sloane launched a major community campaign, calling on the NSW Government to fix this dangerous intersection, which has recorded nine injuries in crashes since 2019.
Ms Sloane said the funding for traffic signal upgrades is a win for her local community and the safety of drivers and pedestrians who have long been calling for improvements to this dangerous and confusing intersection
“This funding is a result of pressure from our community, and I thank everyone who signed my petition and shared their stories with me,” said Ms Sloane.
“I’ve heard from parents who won’t risk crossing the road during peak hour, and residents who have told me of long waits or seeing cars cut through traffic at high speed. Improving the intersection is long overdue, and I am glad our community is finally receiving the funding to see it fixed.”
“Every day this intersection remains unfixed is another day residents are put at risk so I will be watching closely to make sure these works are delivered quickly.”
Ms Sloane acknowledged Woollahra Council for its advocacy alongside the community campaign, saying the funding reflects a strong join effort to improve safety at the intersection. Ms Sloane also thanked Transport for NSW for listening to community feedback and working with her.
