Easts Rugby Opens New Women's Changerooms

Member for Vaucluse and NSW Opposition Leader, Kellie Sloane, today joined Easts Rugby Club to officially open the brand-new women’s change room facilities at Rose Bay, marking a significant milestone for female participation in rugby across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The new change rooms were supported with $1.8 million in funding from the former NSW Liberal Government and will provide dedicated, modern facilities for women and girls at the club.
Member for Vaucluse Kellie Sloane said the opening was a great moment for the local community.
“For too long, women turning up to play rugby were having to use their cars as makeshift change rooms. These new facilities send a clear message that women belong on the rugby field,” Ms Sloane said.
“Easts Rugby now has the largest women’s program in the club’s history, and we are seeing local players making our community proud in the Wallaroos and NSW Waratahs.”
Ms Sloane also announced that Easts Junior Beasties RUFC had been successful in securing $10,000 in funding through the Local Sport Grant Program to support their Rebuilding Girls Rugby in the Eastern Suburbs program.
“This funding is an investment in the next generation of female players at Easts, and I can’t wait to see more girls out there getting involved with this great game,” Ms Sloane said.
