IMPORTANT COMMUNITY INFORMATION - Bondi Beach Attack (Update)

It continues to be an incredibly difficult time for our community.
My team and I are here to support you and your loved ones in any way we can.
I wanted to update you on the latest information that I have received.
The Federal and NSW Governments have announced an immediate support package to assist victims, their families and small businesses impacted by the Bondi terror attack.
IMMEDIATE SUPPORT PACKAGE
A community hub is located at the Bondi Pavilion with the NSW Reconstruction Authority, NSW Health, Service NSW, Service NSW Business Concierge, Disaster Recovery Chaplaincy Network, Legal Aid and Lifeline on hand to provide practical advice and support.
The hub is currently open 7-days between 10am and 4pm. Further decisions will be made by the Premier’s Department about the ongoing operation of the hub into 2026.
Victims and family support:
• $2 million for Jewish community organisations to support victims’ families, including $1 million for Jewish House to establish a Victim Support Fund to deliver timely, culturally sensitive assistance to the Jewish Community.
• $1 million for Legal Aid and Disaster Response Legal Services to provide legal services to support the recovery of communities.
• Enhancements to NSW’s existing victim support scheme, including increased financial support for injured victims and their immediate families, funeral and burial costs for victims and support for the repatriation of remains.
• $1 million for local Jewish organisations to provide community mental health triage.
• $3.6 million for six place-based recovery officers to undertake case coordination and outreach for affected individuals and families.
Business and community support:
• Up to $25,000 for impacted small businesses in the immediate vicinity and those who show exceptional circumstances. Registrations commence on Friday, December 19, with grants processed by early next week.
• $1.5 million for additional security at Jewish community locations.
• $1 million for Waverley Council to assist with clean-up requirements at Bondi Beach, and for community cohesion events.
• $2.8 million to provide up to eight coordinators to undertake community engagement, support the local community and provide capacity building. The funding includes $1 million for a grant program delivered through a partnership between Multicultural NSW and the Jewish Board of Deputies to support community organisations.
Impacted businesses will be able to register for support from Friday, with applications processed from early next week. They can do this by attending the Community Hub or contacting Service NSW on 13 77 88 to organise a meeting with a Business Concierge member. You can also to go to www.service.nsw.gov.au/business
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES

This website is being updated regularly.
NSW Health trained mental health clinicians are on the ground at Bondi and Coogee to offer help. They are clearly identified in bright NSW Health vests.
Speak with NSW Health clinicians between 8am and 8pm at Wairoa Community Centre Hall (Wairoa Ave, North Bondi) or the reception centre at the Intercontinental Coogee (242 Arden St Coogee).
Safe Haven at the Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, will operate extended hours until Friday 19 December, from 10am to 7.30pm. Safe Haven is a calm, safe place for young people aged 7 to 17 years with psychological distress or who are having suicidal thoughts. Talk to a peer worker or mental health clinician. It is a drop-in service. You don’t need an appointment.
The NSW mental health line is available 24/7, with specialist staff available to speak to anyone affected by the attack. Call 1800 011 511.
Members of the community can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.
A dedicated phone line for victims of the Bondi Beach attack has also been established. Please call 1800 411 822 from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
CRIME SCENE LIFTED
The crime scene at Bondi Beach has been lifted following the conclusion of the police operation.
Members of the public are advised they can access the site to remove their vehicles from the location, however the Queen Elizabeth Drive carpark will remain closed to the public.
Southbound lanes of Campbell Parade will also remain closed until further notice.

OFFICIAL VIGIL
I know many of you have been asking about an official vigil for the public.
Government officials and community leaders are working closely with the Jewish community. As this period falls within Hanukkah, all steps are being taken to ensure any memorial services have the safety, respect and dignity of our Jewish community as a first priority.
As more details about an official vigil become available, I will share them with the community.
PUBLIC CONDOLENCES AND MEMORIALS
At my Double Bay Electorate Office, a dedicated space has been provided for all who wish to share messages of condolence. All are welcome to visit and contribute at a time that suits them.

You can also light a candle at 6:47pm each night for the next six nights as part of Hanukkah to honour the memories of the victims and show that light will overcome darkness.
